Grading
Overview is part of preparation for the co-op process, which is mandatory for all CCIS students. Since the long-term goal of co-op is to prepare students for the working world, the instructors' standards for grading are based, in part, on the standards of the working world. Therefore, students are expected to attend every class, and to be punctual. Homework, when assigned, is expected to be submitted on time and to have a professional appearance. Accommodations can be made for deadlines in some cases, but only if students discuss this with the instructors in advance. Teamwork and occasional presentations will be required.
A few notes:
- The maximum points possible on a late assignment will be 1/2 of total. Late assignments must be turned in by 5 p.m. the same day as class -- after that they are worth no points.
- Assignments are due at the start of class. After assignments are collected any others turned in will be considered late, even later during the class.
- Grades given will be A through C-. Any grade below C- is an automatic F.
- Final resumes are expected to be perfect. Points will be deducted for typos, formatting problems, faded or smeared print, or wrinkled paper. Your resume should look as it would if you were giving it to an employer.
- Students who fail CS 222 will not be permitted to go on co-op, and will have to make up the course by taking CS U223 the following Fall.
