Homework Instructions

Dropbox Setup

All homework will be submitted by Dropbox. To configure Dropbox, please follow these instructions.

  1. Sign up for Dropbox, if you don’t have an account already.
  2. Create a code only folder inside Dropbox on your working machine (in any preferred location) named CS6200_X_Yabcd with X=First name initial, and Yabcd=first five letters (or less) of your last name. For example if one’s name is Justin Bieber, the folder would be called CS6200_J_Bieber. This folder is for code, results, reports, PDFs, notes - BUT NOT FOR DATA. Keep data on a separate location on your HDD.
  3. Share this folder via Dropbox with “virgilpavlu@yahoo.com”. Note that we are not using this address for email, so we won’t read any emails sent to it.

Blackboard Collaborate

This course will use Blackboard Collaborate’s web conferencing solution for virtual office hours and help sessions. Please make sure that your computer meets the system requirements for this technology by clicking here. You may have to update to a newer version of Java; if so, the system checker will point you to that update. You should test and configure your system prior to your first official Collaborate session. Blackboard provides a “room” for you test your connection, settings, and configure your audio here.

Finally, you can opt for more formal training with a short online webinar on using Blackboard’s Collaborate functions. This tutorial is less than 7 minutes long and breaks up all the functions into easy parts, so you can review only what you need to. To check out the orientation click here.
