Exam 2 is now available

Wed Nov 5 3:00:00 EST 2014
Exam 2 is now available. You have until tomorrow at 10:30am. Good luck!

Hw8 is now up, due Wednesday

Fri Oct 31 13:19:21 EST 2014
Homework 8 is now posted, and will be due Wednesday (since it has gone up a day late). It is a fairly short assignment. I recommend starting it early, so that you have time on Wednesday for your midterm.

Midterm date and logistics

Thu Oct 30 00:16:28 EST 2014
The second midterm will be given out next Wednesday, Nov 5th at 3pm after both Fundies classes are done for the day. It will be due on Thursday, Nov 6th at 10:30am, before the next Fundies 2 class and before lab. We expect the exam should take about two hours when using a computer, but you have nearly a full day to complete it.

You will get one submission to WebCAT, so be sure to submit the file you mean to submit, and not a blank file just to check that you’re submitting correctly! WebCAT will not be grading your exams, so while you should make an effort to make your code readable, you do not have to perfectly satisfy WebCAT’s style requirements.

Late midterms will not be accepted without prior arrangements with the professors.

Warning: Since this is a take-home exam, we will not be proctoring you. We will be checking for plagarism or other cheating, however, and if we find evidence of copying, it will result in an immediate zero on the exam for anyone involved, at least. We are giving this as a take-home test so that you can demonstrate your abilities without the time pressure of an in-class exam; do not abuse the privilege.

Hw8 release delayed until Thursday

Wed Oct 29 11:59:42 EST 2014
I do not yet have the next homework assignment ready; it will go out tomorrow.

Hw7 typos

Sun Oct 26 19:52:00 EST 2014
There is a minor typo on the homework: the "InvalidArgumentsException" in problem 2 should be an "IllegalArgumentException". Also, the removeFromHead and removeFromTail methods should return the data that’s been removed.

Hw6 extension

Mon Oct 20 12:23:34 EST 2014
I’m extending the homework due date one extra day, until Wednesday at midnight.

Hw6 now available on WebCAT

Sun Oct 19 16:39:45 EST 2014
WebCAT submissions are now open for Hw6.

Final version of Hw6 now available

Sun Oct 19 12:10:30 EST 2014
The final version of HW6, with all corrections made, is now posted to the website. WebCAT submissions and tests will be made available this afternoon.

Hw 5 is LAST homework with CURRENT partners

Tue Oct 7 16:45:50 EST 2014
You should complete homework 5 with the partners you’ve had for the first few assignments. This week in lab, you will be switching partners for lab 6, homework 6, and the following assignments.

New tests posted for Hw4, problem 2

Thu Sep 30 23:14:20 EST 2014
I’ve just posted new auto-grader tests for homework 4, problem 2. You should be receiving an email shortly once your assignments have been compiled against those tests.

Exam information

Sat Sep 27 12:58:40 EST 2014
The exams will be open-note: you may bring whatever notes you wish to the test. The exams were printed without point-values for each problem; I’ll post those on the board at the time of the exam. Your quizzes will be graded as part of the exam.

Exam review sessions

Wed Sep 24 22:42:06 EST 2014
There will be two exam review sessions tomorrow, in our regular classrooms at our regular times. (You are encouraged to go to the morning session if possible, so that the afternoon session won’t be a repeat, but rather a continuation if needed.)

Mobiles homework is due tomorrow

Mon Sep 22 11:44:05 EST 2014
Despite WebCAT’s confusion, homework 3 problem 2 is due at the same time as homework 3 problem 1, tomorrow night.

No class on Thursday

Mon Sep 22 9:24:05 EST 2014
There will be no class this Thursday, Sep 25. There will still be lab on Thursday and Friday.

WebCAT submissions enabled

Mon Sep 8 20:50:21 EST 2014
I’ve enabled WebCAT submissions for all students who have emailed us their CCS ids, and published the homework problems, so you should see them now. If you still can’t log in and see three problems for our course, email cs2510-staff@ccs as soon as possible.

Typo on HW1, problem 3

Sat Sep 6 16:22:00 EST 2014
There is a mistake in the expected names of the examples for this problem: they should be named "planeLeg2", not "plainLeg2" — evidently, I was expecting the pizza from the previous problem to be served on the travel legs of this one!

I also added some explanation of what the log file is for, and what it should contain.

CCIS User Accounts

Wed Sep 3 13:30:00 EST 2014
If you do not have a CCIS user account you need to get one. Go to http://howto.ccs.neu.edu/howto/accounts-homedirs/how-to-sign-up-for-a-ccis-account/ and follow the instructions. Make sure you have a CCIS user account set up asap and you know your user’s name. The TAs will collect these during the first week’s labs. You will need them to log into the homework WebCAT server.

Room change: Morning section meets in WVH 108

Wed Sep 3 16:00:01 EST 2014
If you checked the course listing a while ago, you might have seen it list the morning section as meeting in Snell 153. That is no longer correct: we now meet in WVH 108.
