Course Description: The goal of computer vision is to make computers understand and interpret visual information. Computer vision systems bring together imaging devices, computers, and sophisticated algorithms for solving problems in such areas as industrial inspection, medicine, autonomous navigation, character recognition, security systems, human-computer communication, remote sensing, etc. Computer vision combines techniques from image processing, pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, and computer graphics. In this course we will introduce topics such as image formation, edge detection, image segmentation, image filtering, texture, shading, matching, motion, shape representation, and object recognition.
