FTP instructions

Use the following instructions to connect via FTP to my office machine, in order to submit your finished work.

Your account

You are given an FTP account for the quarter to use to submit your work. Your username is the first letter of your first name followed immediately by your last name. Please exclude any hyphens, apostrophes, or spaces in your last name. Usernames are all lowercase letters.

Your password is initially blank. You must change your password as soon as possible, using the form on the course web site, to something else. A secure password will eliminate the chance that another student will steal, modify, or delete your work. You will receive zero credit for all submitted work until you change your password.

Your account directory contains two folders named "in-progress" and "completed". You may put anything you want in the "in-progress" folder and we will not look at it. Please put all of your completed work in the "completed" folder. Make sure that you enclose each assignment in its own sensibly named folder. You do not have to put your name or your username on your submissions. Do not upload compressed archives of your files, in any format. Send everything you have for each assignment so that we do not miss anything we require. You have 20 MB of space at your disposal.

Submitting your work

Connect via FTP to ftp://loganberry.ccs.neu.edu using this link, the link on the course web site, or by typing the URL into your browser. (Alternately, you may use an FTP client to make this connection.) Input your username and password, and neither select to connect anonymously nor to save your password. Anonymous connections are refused by the server. If you save your password, another student could steal, modify, or delete your work by using the same computer.

Navigate to either the "in-progress" folder or "completed" folder as appropriate, and drag the file(s) or folder(s) to be submitted into that directory. If you submit something with the same name as a previous submission, the new submission will overwrite the old submission. To delete a file or folder, select it and press the delete key. You have complete control over the files and folders in your account directory.
